The city of Ruse
The city of Rousse is situated:
- in the North-eastern part of Bulgaria
- on the right bank of the Danube
- on the borders of Bulgaria with Romania
- 200 km from the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast – city of Varna
- 300 km from the Bulgarian capital – city of Sofia
It is most significant Bulgarian river port and the one from the economies centres in the North Bulgaria. The bridge over the Danube connects it with the Romanian city of Giurgiu and it‘s the shortest way to the Romanian capital – Bucharest – only 70 km away.
Rousse is serving an important part of the international trade of the country.
The central part of the city is known for its the unique architecture from the end of XIXth and the beginning XXth century, which attracts many tourists. In the old buildings are widely practiced Neo Baroque and Neo Rococo architecture, which are influenced from the architecture of Vienna. All buildings are in good shape to this day. It’s imparts the feeling of the city. Many buildings are monuments of the culture. Among the sights of the town are show up:

“Dohodnoto zdanie” with the flying Mercurii over the roof , in which houses the public theatre and other cultural institutions – 1902 year – arch. Raul – Paul – Brank, George Lang and Franck Shtolz . Here are situated the house of the writer Elias Kanetti – Nobel prize winner for 1981 year ,museum – house “Zahari Stoyanov” and the “ Pantheon of the writers of the Bulgarian national revival”.
